One hour of exercise a week can prevent depression

 

A recent study conducted by the Black Dog Institute and published in the American Journal of Psychiatry has shown that regular exercise of ANY intensity can have a positive effect on future levels of depression. The study suggests that just one hour a week can have a positive effect on depression. Australia’s Black Dog Institute has launched its “Exercise your Mood” campaign to promote the mental health benefits of exercise. Their study suggests that 12% of cases of depression could have been prevented by one hour of exercise per week.
